It's been a while since I've curled up with this style of book and I discovered that I'd really missed it. The story itself was sweet and engaging without beating you about the head with the fact that it was Christian Historical Romance. I enjoyed Lucinda, but my favorite characters had to be Phoebe for her sweetness without it being over the top and the boys at West Point for their loyalty and sense of fun. I'm actually glad that I gave up reading this style of book because it made coming back all the more sweet.

I'll be honest. I'd completely forgotten about this series of books. This sometimes happens as the mom of two boys who keep chaotic schedules. When I first started reading, I kept thinking that something seemed really familiar about the book and sure enough, I have read at least one of the other books in this series. In some ways, this made the book feel like coming home. I already knew most of the characters. I can't say that I always understood Jess' stubbornness, but I certainly know people like that so I did enjoy that she was another totally real character. I enjoyed her story with Andy and catching up with everyone else, but again I'm going to be honest. I didn't enjoy the ending. It seemed abrupt and that there were a lot of loose ends. Now, if there's going to be another book in this series, I'm okay with that. However, I did read that this is the last book in the series and it just doesn't feel concluded and that always leaves me feeling unsettled.

Still, if you enjoy every day life in a small town with some serious sports fanatics and love thrown into the mix...I can for sure recommend Last Chance Hero.

It wasn't a page turner that kept me up all night, but it intrigued me and even after I finished it, it hung around in my memory, urging me to ponder its message. Is it one that I'm going to return to time after time? Most likely not, but it's a good read on a quiet afternoon.

Janice Thompson writes the sweetest love stories and Every Bride Needs a Groom is no exception. While the story itself was fairly predictable, I still enjoyed the characters and how every one of them had their own smaller story within the main story. Katie was sweet and honest to the bone, her family so incredibly small town that it was a bit like being back where I grew up, and those big city folks? Well, they're a whole bundle of fun all in themselves. The book moves at a quick pace, but not so quick that you feel as if you've been left behind. I especially appreciated the epilogue and how the book ended. I can't tell you why though. You're just going to have to read it yourself to find out.

How many of you have contemplated what happened to Americans living overseas when war broke out? I know that it's not something that I've spent a lot of time thinking about. This book will put you right into the middle of it. The intensely written imagery caused me to put this book down more than once, but I seemed to keep coming back to it. The book isn't without flaws though. There are some circumstances that just didn't seem realistic and the characters didn't seem as fleshed out as they could have been. So, this book is on my well, it was pretty good but perhaps not one that I'll return to time and time again.

Romance is always a weakness for me, no matter if it's real life or in a book. This book was a solid source of reality, romance, being caught between people and just trying to survive. The characters were not only solid, but they were real. They had real emotions and real reactions. As a parent, I read the parent/child interactions and wondered what my own relationship with my boys will be like in a few years. As a single mom who has been in a few bad places, I understood Gin's desire to grab a suitcase and run. As a person who has been there for others and somehow wound up in between people, I understood Dan's plight. I think everyone can find some part of a character and relate to it. The dialogue was wonderfully written and the story moved along at a pace that didn't feel rushed and it didn't drag. Overall, a wonderful book of courage, hope and love.

Ahhh! It's back! You guys know I loved, loved, loved this series last year and I am so excited to see it back. Oddly enough, I'm reviewing it through a completely different outlet this time around, but I don't care! I love the fine folks that I get to work with and I love them even more since they brought this novella to my attention.

Now, looking at the book description above, I can imagine that you're all thinking something along the lines of, "But what is this book really about?"  I thought the same thing. It's about a girl..who meets a boy...hehe... Seriously, it's about this woman named Ginger, who like most of us, is somehow wounded by her past, including our main male. They meet again and it's time to find out if they can put the past in the past, heal and move towards the future. I'm not going to give any spoilers, but I will say that this novella is full of real turmoil and has characters that you'll find some small piece of yourself in. It is a Christian novella and you will see that in this novella. However, it isn't so in your face that, if you don't share those beliefs, it will get in the way of your enjoyment of the story.

Summary? The characters are relatable, the novella actually has really good closure, unlike some, and I'm already hoping to review the remainder of this year's series.

The last book in this series! I'm so not ready for it to be over. I loved each and every novella, without fail. This one..obviously no exception. I loved Sadie and her ocd tendencies. They reminded me of myself during good times. Erik is a total doll and together, they're happily ever after. It's another sweet, fast read from this series and if you loved any of the others, you'll have no regrets picking this one up.

While it appears that this is the 5th book in a series, this really does well as a standalone book. While it is supposed to be a retelling of The Frog Prince, I honestly never had that vibe. Of course, it's entirely possible that it's been too long since I read that particular fairy tale. What I did notice was a very well written book that is perfectly suitable for the teen and up set. There's adventure, a bit of romance and more than a bit of bravery involved as Colin and Margaretha race to save themselves, her family and her father's entire kingdom. In some ways, I felt as if it were a coming of age story as Margaretha finds her true self that was buried under all of the teasing that was done by her family. My suggestion? If you have an up and coming reader or if you yourself enjoy a twist on an old story, check out this series of books by Melanie Dickerson.

Ahhh! Another year in the bride series, except they're calling it the wedding series. I love love love love love these novellas and this one wasn't the exception to the rule. Hope had her reasons for how she was and what she did. So did John. Imagine both their surprise when their pasts came back to "haunt them". I loved these characters, especially Amity. I do hope that someone writes her story at some point. Honestly, if I keep reading, I'll just keep gushing. Just go get these.

Last night, I couldn't sleep. My heart was heavy with the knowledge that this year, I wouldn't have the finances to provide Christmas for my children. I tried reading another book, just to put it down a few chapters in because I just couldn't get involved in the story. I was about to give up when I spotted this book on my kindle. I'm so glad that I did. Something about this story touched me and when I was done, I closed my eyes and drifted right off to sleep. Maybe it's because I could relate to Taryn, having come from a background where I always felt I was easy to forget. I can say for certain that the writing helped draw me in. Another amazing book in what is turning out to be a wonderful series. If you have the chance to pick this one up, don't hesitate.

This book wasn't what I was thinking that it was going to be. First of all, I was expecting this to take place in the 1900s or more of an 'Old West' time period. In fact, for the first chapter, I wasn't sure when it was taking place. I kept flipping back to the front page to be sure it didn't say. Turns out that it's a modern day romance. Other than that, I only had one problem with the book. ..and I warn you that this is a bit of a spoiler, but not much. Rosie is very worried about her past and the type of person people think she may be and yet, she's very forward with Michael. Oops. That was more of a teaser than a spoiler, wasn't it? Well, I guess you'll just have to buy the book to find out what's happening there. All in all, a quick and easy read that sadly did have a "to be continued" type ending. With any luck, the next four books in this series will come my way and I can find out the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

When I first picked up this book, my first thought was, "Wow, this one is thick."  It'd been a while since any book that I'd read had come close to 408 pages. Turns out that the amount of pages didn't seem to matter since it kept me up until nearly 4am reading it. I really ought to know better than to start books close to bedtime. If I had one complaint about this book, there was a bit more "I have to pray about this. You should pray about this." than I enjoy. Other than that, I enjoyed the characters and the story and to be honest, I'm a bit sad that this series is done.

It seems like it's been a while since I've read and reviewed a contemporary romance. It's been cookbooks, nonfiction, historical fiction and some Amish fiction thrown in for good measure. I'm okay with that but when this book came up next in my stack, I was good with a change of pace and that's just what this book delivered. I found Kate to be a very relatable character. Perhaps it's because I've always felt like I had to live up to someone else's dream for me. Perhaps it's just the name. ;)  Either way, I found the relationship between Sally and Kate to be sweet and genuine. I enjoyed the romances involved in the story and I'll be honest, the resort itself was one that I wanted to find and hide myself away in so that I could enjoy nature and just some down time from every day life. All in all, a very enjoyable read.

I want to say that I loved this book, but sadly, I just can't. I will say that I liked this book, though! For some reason, I really had a harder time than usual diving into this one. I think it was somewhere around chapter 3 before it got to the point where I was really enjoying reading it. That being said, once I got into it, I did really enjoy the book. The title fits this book perfectly. You really do watch Bea grow up and become the woman that she's meant to be. None of the characters are perfect and that makes the story feel all that more real. This is the final book in the series, but not having read any of the others, I didn't have any problems with keeping up with who was who and what their individual personalities were. Another good Amish read, but perhaps reading the other books might have made this one easier to jump into.

Historical romance from a time period where everything seems to be changing...there are cars and yet debutante balls are a thing of normalcy. If you recall, I reviewed the first book in this series and very much enjoyed it. This book is absolutely no exception. I've never had my fingers crossed so hard for a character as I did for Jon. Watching Kate finally come into her own had me smiling and cheering. Meeting up with William and Julia again was a delight and as I turned the final pages, I couldn't help but wish that there were another book, just so I could keep reading. I'm thrilled to say that there is but bummed to report that it won't be out for an entire year!

I couldn't put this book down. I tossed it into my backpack on errand day, knowing I would bit sitting around during oil changes and tire changes. Once I started reading it, I actually wished these things took longer than they did! Sophia's strength during such a horrible time drew me in and the way that Julian and Charlie come to her aid, far beyond what their job entailed, made me feel a spark of hope for humanity. Even if you're not a fan of quilting, I can't see how you can't be a fan of this book.

It takes a reality TV show for Wynne to realize love isn't just a game.

Another quick and easy read, but I confess to not loving this one as much as I did the others in the series. It just felt under developed and truth be told, I think that it would have made a fantastic full length novel. Sadly, there were just too many unanswered questions.. Why did Wynne and Callum break things off? Why did she choose Andy on the show? Why did she let things go so far when she was so unsure? I'd love to see this expanded out into a full length novel that allows the characters to develop and for the reader to really get to know them. All in all, not a bad read, but not a favorite.

I am completely adoring this series of novellas. I swear that as soon as I'm handed one, I've devoured it in a couple of hours. They're all really easy reads and as someone who can't resist a bit of romance, they've certainly not let me down. I loved every moment of this book. I loved how Ellie and Gray met and I loved how he encouraged her to be strong, even though he sometimes came across as a bit of a bully about it. My favorite character? Certainly not Ellie's mom...but the pastor at the church where Ellie sneaks in to do some gardening. If you haven't read this one yet, pick it up and find out just how sweet he really is.
