Chick-Lit at its most enjoyable. I curled up yesterday with this book and didn't put my Kindle down until I'd read it right up til the end. I'm pretty sure that I laughed, sighed and nearly cried right along with Bridgette. Man, that girl had a lot going on and then an incredibly hard decision right at the end. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but I will say that it kept me turning pages. I had to know if she was going to end up with any of the men in her life! On top of that, the cast of secondary characters were so incredibly well written that I felt as if these were people that I really do know. They all have their flaws, but that's what makes them that much more real. Seriously, a great read and I'm so glad that it ended the way that it did.

While this was a quick and easy read, it left me feeling somewhat dissatisfied. I think that's due to the fact that this was book four of a series where I hadn't read the first three books in the series. It did okay as a standalone, but I really felt as if the book didn't give me a chance to really get to know the characters. They never seemed to really gain dimension for me and as such, I had more trouble relating to them. That being said, it was a good enough book that I am considering looking for the first three books in the series. So, my recommendation is that you start with book one and if you enjoy it, keep on reading until you get through this one.

Let me start out by reminding everyone that this is the 3rd book in a 5 part series. Before you read this one, make sure you've read Romancing Redemption and Riding for Redemption. These are the first two books in the series and since this one picks up pretty much where they leave off, I think you'll thank me for it. Personally, I'm glad that we got to find out Lisa's story. It was good to see her softer side and not just the aloof personality that we had seen up until this point. Honestly, y'all know by now that I'm a big fan of Bonnie's. It can be quite a stretch to find something in one of her books that I don't care for and for this book, it's only me being unsure that Jesse (who was born with spina bifida) could walk unaided the way he does in this part of the tale. Since that's not even close to a deal breaker, I suggest you pick up Bonnie's latest because who doesn't need some good romance in their life?

Mimi wants to bake cookies and Grandma is going to teach her the correct way!! What fun--you have to be real careful with the measurements and ingredients and you also have to know when to let a grown up take over! This little book has it all covered. Actually I might even be able to bake cookies after having read this!! This is only one in a series of books with recipes-one to a book that this chef author has written. I suggest you read about the author below-it is intriguing. Then go and pre order this book for your little chef/baker!

What a fabulous book! Not only does this book describe the technique and recipe for baking cookies, but it also focuses on a story. There are many ways to read this story. You can simple read it as a wonderful book. You can focus on the bright illustrations. The ingredients and steps make for the perfect math focus... and it also reads as an activity book that you can read while you bake. In every way, this book earns my 5 star review... And now, I'm going to bake some cookies.

Who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies? Seriously, if you don't, well...I'll still love you, but I might look at you weird. This is a great first cookbook for the kiddo in your life who just wants to learn how to make something delicious! With bright illustrations and a wonderful story, this book will capture your child's imagination and with a yummy recipe and measuring, it will please any parent who is looking for a secret educational tool. As for me, my boys may be a bit too old for this, but they're never too old to learn a new recipe or to devour an entire tray of freshly baked cookies!

As a small, fun bonus... here's our favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe!

2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk chocolate chips


DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream together the butter and sugars in a mixing bowl, mixing until pale yellow and light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Mix in the eggs one at a time, and then the vanilla until combined.

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a separate mixing bowl. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips. Portion 2 tablespoons of dough for each cookie and roll together to form a ball, spacing the dough balls 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.

Bake until the edges just start to brown, 12 to 14 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

If you're looking for a sweet book to curl up with during these last lingering days between winter and spring, this could be the book you're looking for. With well rounded characters and a main one that will have you rooting for her before you know it, this book kept me turning page after page until I'd finished it. The ending is a bit of a surprise, but surprises aren't always bad things. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series because this one had me from start to finish.

I read the first book in this series and nearly had a heart attack when it was a cliffhanger. Then, I received this one and I devoured it in one night. Thank goodness it was a quiet night so I could start earlier! I haven't had near enough sleep lately and this one would have kept me up all night. This book is filled with mystery, action, adventure and yes, even a little bit of romance. Of course, it's another cliffhanger, but the series is so good (and so outside of my normal genre) that I can forgive it! Fingers crossed that the next part finds my desk soon!

Sometimes I think that books come in and across my desk in groups. Sometimes, it's cookbook, other times it's fantasy and right now, there seems to be quite a few in the young adult category. When I started reading this series (this is book 3), I wasn't sure what to expect. You have a teenager girl who seems to manage to get into all sorts of trouble without even meaning to. The books are filled with pretty much every type of person that you have ever met and your feelings regarding them may change as the books progress. I know that mine did. I would say that I would suggest these books to my boys, but they're still in that weird "omg, the main character is a girl, no way" stage. I don't get it, but I'm not a boy either.

Holy bajeezus, what did I get myself into with this book? I've loved Pauline's writing in the past, so when this book was offered to me, description unseen, I jumped on it. Little did I know that I was getting myself into an end of days, aliens, zombies, scare myself to death kind of book! As with all of her other books, Pauline's control of imagery is outstanding. The book keeps moving and I keep putting it down to take a few deep breathes before my curiosity demands that I pick it back up and keep reading.
