Announcement: We hit $500!

3:43 PM 0 Comments

Guys, I am so excited to be able to say that we hit $500 in pledges on the Holidays at the Toy Store pre-order campaign! This pre-order period has been rough. I've been fighting getting sick again (I was diagnosed previously with copd), running the oldest around everywhere, and working. On top of that, the campaign itself is just moving slow. I've had my ups and downs with it, but I've never given up hope that we'll make it. Today, that hope has been rewarded!

What does that mean for all of you? If you pledge to the campaign, you will get an ebook copy of Apo's Army automatically if we fund. Plus, I'm going to be going live on Twitch to read at least two stories from Holidays at the Toy Store. It's your chance to get a sneak peek at the newest book!

Announcement: Kickstarter Campaign

8:00 AM 0 Comments

It's up! Eric did a smashing job and finished 95% of the graphics. The others will be done soon and inserted, but that was enough to get it up and running. It will launch on January 31st, but if you want to be notified when it happens, I'm going to share a link with all of you. You just click that and then click notify and you'll get an email when I hit the go live button!

I can't wait for all of you to see this book! I'm super excited about it. Remember, if you want to be notified, just click the title of the book here: Holidays at the Toy Store

Announcement: Sales! Sales! Sales!

8:00 AM 0 Comments

Can you believe that it's already November 15th? This year has flown by and for some of us, it's going to be good to see 2024. Before we get there though, we have the holidays! Personally, I love them. I already have my tree up and decorated. It's really early for us this year, but the oldest seemed to want to get it up and who was I to argue with some Christmas cheer?

Speaking of those holidays though...Have you started your shopping? I have and man, sticker shock was a real thing this year. Luckily, I've found some good sales. It seems the older my kids have gotten, the more I have to stretch that budget. With that in mind, I wanted to do something for all of you!

From now (November 15th) until the end of the month (November 30th), I have marked down my books from $10 down to $8. These are signed copies that come directly from me. My Amazon prices are set so if you prefer to order from them, know that those copies aren't signed. Signed copies can only be ordered directly from me. Shipping will be $5 for the first book and an additional $2 per book after that. I've included copies of three of the book covers below. I don't have a good image of Tales from the Toy Store. If you'd like more information on each book, head over HERE to read their descriptions. To place your order, message me on Facebook or send an email to Katrina@KatScratchPress.com -- Books will arrive in time for the holidays!

Kickstarter Announcement!

3:51 PM 0 Comments

Hi, guys! I have some exciting news. Cobalt's Castaways will be coming to Kickstarter in October! What does that mean? Well, let me break it down for you...

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is this really cool platform where you can pre-order my book, along with other goodies, and get it up to six months before it will be available on Amazon. The goodies may be available at shows, but are of a limited quantity and won't be available places like Amazon. You pledge the amount that you want and no money is charged to your card until the end of the campaign and only if enough money is raised. In this case, I'm looking to raise at least $1000. That money goes to pay for the printing of the books and to pay the amazing artists that I work with.

What is Cobalt's Castaways?

Cobalt's Castaways is my brand new book that will be releasing in October on Kickstarter. It's the sequel to Apo's Army in my kitty series of books. It is 20+ short stories all about cats and their adventures. There's a president, a chef, and a baseball player. There's something for everyone! It also includes eight  new illustrations which means eight new coloring pages!

What can I get?

Some of the reward tiers include:
  • Digital copies of all four books
  • Print copies of all four books
  • Stickers
  • Prints
  • Bookmarks
In fact, there's a possibility that I'll have a custom enamel pin as part of it! I'm in talks right now with a company that creates them.

What can I do?

If you're interested, and I hope that you are, head on over to this link and click on "Notify Me on Launch". This will do two things. It will let me and others know that there is interest in this project and when the project launches, it will email you to let you know. That way, you just have to click on the link in the email and it will take you right to the purchasing page! So simple.

TL;DR

Cool new book about cats is coming! To be reminded, click here.

Return to the Toy Store - New Limited Time Perk Added!

11:03 AM 0 Comments
Well, my friends, we seem to have hit a small stall. So, I'm going to do something that I hadn't planned on! If the campaign can hit $500 by end of day on Monday, every backer will receive a print.  I have total faith that we can do this. I'm talking about $128. That's a drop in the bucket to most campaigns, but will get ours to the halfway point. Remember, even $1 helps! Not only does it boost the funding, but it also boosts the signal.
So, let's share, share, share, and get everyone an extra goodie!

Return to the Toy Store - The Campaign

10:09 AM 0 Comments
We've been working hard and have already hit $271 out of our $1000 goal! I'm so excited. Every time that number goes up, I swear I light up and do a happy dance. To celebrate, I want to share another piece of art from the book! This is the goat. He has some learning to do and I can't wait to share his story with all of you!

If you'd like to pre-order Return to the Toy Store and have the opportunity to get my other books, head on over to Kickstarter and pledge today!

Apo's Army Update!

1:43 PM 0 Comments

So much has happened and I've been slack in updating everyone! For this book, I brought on a new artist. Her name is Maxx and she's fabulous. Let me show off a couple of her pieces:

Aren't they smashing? I love the little fish in that second kitty's mouth. She takes the time to really add personality to each drawing. I can't wait for all of you to see the rest of the pictures that she's done. She's also doing keychains and little figurines for the Kickstarter.

Speaking of the Kickstarter, that will launch on May 1st. I'm so excited to be bringing this to all of you. It's going to run for 30 days and you'll have the opportunity to buy not only Apo's Army, but Tales from the Toy Store, handcrafted keychains, and figurines. I already have ideas for stretch goals including bookmarks and stickers.

My favorite reward tier is the final one. I'm going to create custom stories for five people. They'll tell me about their pet (preferably cat) and I'll write a story that will be in the actual book! I'm only offering up five of these because of the time commitment involved so if that's one that you're interested, you're going to want to pledge right away.

If you'd like a reminder for when the campaign goes live, make sure that you click the link above and Kickstarter will email you after I hit that launch button!

Squeal! It's here! I can finally reveal to you the cover of my newest (and first solo) book! It was done by Eric Cockrell and I am totally in love with it. Somehow we managed to have the exact same image in our head and I think, with his skill, it came out perfectly!

What do you think? Isn't it fabulous? Stay tuned for more information on the book, including the release date which will be here soon!

Wordsmith Wednesday : Announcement

8:00 AM 0 Comments
I've been sitting on this for a little while now because I really wanted to share it with someone in person. Now that I've done that and have his blessing and encouragement, I'm super excited to be able to share the news with you!

Some of you may have heard rumors that I'll be splitting away from Alt World Studios. This is true, but I want to assure you it's not for any bad reason. It's because Nick is kicking me out of the nest for my own good. He's been my number one supporter for years and a lot of the steps that I've made are because he's challenged me to do them. This one included.

So, once The Tether: Nevermore is completed and out into the world (soon, I swear!), I will be publishing under Kat Scratch Press, my very own brand! I'm crazy excited and crazy nervous, but I think I'm ready. For my editing clients, if I can ever figure out how to change the company name on my PayPal account, you'll start seeing Kat Scratch Press right away instead of Geek-o-Rama.

What is Kat Scratch Press? Well, I guess I've already covered it. Outside of The Tether Saga and some possible side projects, it is the name that I will be publishing all of my future books under and it is also the name that I will be doing all editing under from now on.

I know that I already said it, but I am super excited about this. This is the next step in the evolution of me and it feels like a really big one. For what feels like forever, I didn't feel as if I could ever accomplish anything and here I am, ready to start this journey as a self-publisher. I want to thank all of you for sticking with me! I'd also like to thank Russell Nohelty for helping me come up with a name, Eric Cockrell for designing my logos, and Nick Davis for knowing what it is that I need usually far earlier than I know, but never pushing me faster than I can handle. It's really good to have someone in my world who cares enough to challenge me. He told me that I could write before anyone else and he continues to tell me whenever I need to hear it.

Before I sign off, I do have to show you one more thing....the logo that you'll be seeing on my books! Squeal!

Isn't that great? I am so in love with both of these logos. Eric took what was in my head, somehow knew what it was and created two wonderful designs. For those that don't know, I lost my cat of 10 years this past fall and I really wanted to represent him in my future because he was probably my number one supporter in his own way. So...a bit of secret info...that kitty in my logo is named Byron after my boy.

Now, I'm off to work on a client's book and I hope you're all off to have an amazing day!

Announcement: Sarah's Journal is Now on Amazon!

12:21 PM 0 Comments
I'm so excited! Today is the official release day for Sarah's Journal! Sarah's Journal picks up where None Good ends and continues throughout most of Except One. Now everyone can read about how Sarah is handling all of the crazy that keeps happening to her and learn more about what happens to her and to her friends.

I wrote this during NaNo 2017 while I was also doing the final work on Except One and I have to confess that I love how it came out. Sometimes you start to write something and everything just seems to connect. That's how "the journal" was for me. Then, I handed it over to Nick and he created this amazing cover. I had no idea what I wanted and somehow, he created something beyond my imagination that's just perfect for this book.

As if having a new book with a stunning cover out isn't enough, this is also my first solo piece in The Tether Saga. That's my name, all by itself, on that cover and every time I see it, I grin ear to ear.

I want to thank all of you for sharing this exciting moment with me and if you're interested in picking this up, it is an Amazon exclusive but have no fear, I have the links for you!

Paperback: http://amzn.to/2GXkSln
Kindle: http://amzn.to/2t6F2aD

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you do, please leave a review. Reviews help others know just how awesome things are. ;)

Blog Announcement: Reviews

2:40 PM 0 Comments
Can anyone tell me who the man to the left is? Anyone? I know some of you can because some of you know him! That, my friends, is my best friend in the whole wide universe (cuz the world isn't big enough for how awesome he is), Walter. I don't believe that I've spent a lot of time writing here about him, but if you head over to Welcoming Weight Loss, I know he's been mentioned there. In fact, there's an entire post just about him. Yep, that's just how important he is.

Now, I bet you're wondering..What does this Walter fellow have to do with Katrina or this website? I mean, yeah, he's really cute and those are some dang cute kids he has there, but it's not (Almost) Wordless Wednesday. Could it be that Katrina has finally found the man of her dreams? Wait. No, that can't be it. She titled this reviews. Is she going to review him? Based on that picture alone, we could say:

A+ cuteness
A+ smile
A+ dad material

But now, that's not the kind of thing she writes here. What could it be? Katrina, please won't you tell us?

Ok, ok...first, let me say that you are right on all of those grades. Walter, well..if I start talking about him, I tend to gush. He's smart and funny and sweet and good looking and...and...see? I warned you. The truth is, any woman who manages to land this guy is going to be the luckiest woman in the world and she'd better treat him right. I might not be the right woman for him, but whoever she is..well, she'll have to be downright amazing to deserve him.

Now, for the real news...Walter has agreed to sign on here at the site! He's going to start handling some of the digital copies for review that have become more and more backlogged. Now, we're not 100% sure when he'll be starting because he's busy studying for a teaching certification. Did I mention that the man works with special needs kids? Yeah, you know how I feel about that..but as soon as he's done with the test, he's going to be bringing you reviews! Y'all know how hard it is for me to give up any amount of control so the fact that I'm excited about this means y'all ought to be bouncing up and down..in anticipation!

So, keep your eyes open for not just reviews by me, but reviews by him as well!
