I have been a fan of Tawdra's for ages now though it's been a long time since I've had the opportunity to read any of her work. So, when her newsletter came out and mentioned that this gem was available for free on Amazon, I didn't hesitate to have it sent to my ancient Kindle!

I am so glad that I did. There is something just refreshingly real about her characters. Not to mention that having come from a small town myself, I've seen just the types of things mentioned in this book and it did make me long for the types of friendships that these characters have and are able to maintain.

This book was an easy read, like all of Tawdra's books are. If you're looking for deep, dark material, keep on moving. This is one of those tales that is perfect for a chilly winter's day under the blanket...or in my case, sitting in the car waiting for a kid to get out of his sax lesson.

Now, me being me, has to point out the flaws, tiny as they may be. A few times I noticed that some of the word orders were swapped. As someone who writes a lot, I know just how that happens. The brain gets too fast for the hands and then your proofreader's brain autocorrects it when they read it. It wasn't enough to pull me out of the story, but I did notice it. My only other complaint? I honestly have no idea which book in which series this is...The cover on my Kindle copy says Love in a Small Town - 4. The cover on Goodreads and the text there says Always Love #1 and Amazon says Love in a Small Town book 5. Now, it's entirely possible that the book is part of two series but there's no way it can be both book 4 and 5 in the same series! Like I said, minor issues and none of them take away from the story itself.

I am so glad that Tawdra came back to Ava, Liam, Jules and the gang. I loved her first two books involving them and to see what happened down the road made me smile. I will say that this book isn't for the prude in the family. These guys are still in lust and don't mind showing each other. I can't say enough good things about Tawdra and her writing. I've never read anything of hers that I didn't love and this book wasn't any different. I'll confess that I wouldn't mind her revisiting these guys five or ten years more down the road to see where life has taken them.

Some of you may know that I'm a pretty big Tawdra Kandle fan. Her writing always pulls me in and I never stop before the last word on the last page. This has led to some seriously late nights, but I've never regretted one moment of it. Death Fricassee is no different. It's a great blend of romance, love, loyalty and paranormal. The characters are well written and though two of them appear in a previous book, this book really can stand on its own. Also, I'm happy to say that while this book is the first in a series, it doesn't end in a cliffhanger..it ends just right, leaving you wondering the answers to some of the mystery. The rest of this series is already on my mental wish list.

I don't think that it's much of a secret that I'm a fan of Tawdra's. She writes stories that hook me on page one and don't let go until I've flipped the final pages. With this one, Meghan drew me in and then location descriptions hooked me. Yet another book where I have location envy before it's done. Tawdra's ability to write characters that are fully developed and are true to life draw you in, but the story will have you staying. If you get the chance to read any of her books, don't hesitate to pick them up.

In this follow up book, Tawdra tells us the story from Ava's side and I loved it just as much as the first book. All of the characters are real and even more so if you've read the first book, Best Served Cold. You can't help but relate to Ava as she worries about breaking the girl code, living up to expectations and whether or not she should change her plans. If you haven't picked up these books, I highly suggest that you skip right over to Amazon and download the Kindle formats..assuming you're as impatient as I am for new books to arrive. ;)

I loved this book! It was one of those quick and easy reads that you can just curl up in bed with and enjoy. I loved the relationship between Julia and Jesse and seeing it evolve. The friendship between Julia and Ava is the type I always longed for in college. Every single character drew you in with their quirky personalities that showed they were each far from perfect. Tawdra does a wonderful job at writing not only dialogue, but a book that's fun, sweet, sexy and that draws you in from page one. I pretty much dare you to pick this one up and read it. I warn you though...if you read the epilogue, you'e going to want the next book. I know I do!
