bead gal

Bead Guy

Yesterday, I decided to walk through the Student Union on campus and discovered that the Seneca tribe was there doing some instructional sessions. I stopped and spoke with some of the members for a few minutes about what they're doing and had a really nice conversation with a gentleman about Detroit of all things. It was nice meeting someone though who understood what I meant when I said Buffalo is a nice area, but I just don't feel a connection to it. He said no, of course you don't. It's not home. Nope, it certainly isn't and I'm looking forward to going home in May.

One of the things they had setup were these craft tables where you could make some really easy crafts. Now we all know that I could not resist stopping and checking them out. That's where I made the lovely lady you see above. I hadn't made one of these in years, but it was fun making one all over again. She's so simple..just buttons, beads and pipecleaner. Do you think anyone would buy these if I made some up for my "really I am going to use this" etsy shop?

not so wild and wacky wednesday

Okie, so on my list of things to do is seriously to blog. I dunno why I don't do it. Ok, yes I do. It's pure and total laziness. Shame on me! So to make up for it, I'm gonna write a whooole post here tonight about..ermm..well...ahh...

Oh! I know! I could tell you about my friend abby's blog. I seriously go there multiple times a day to see if she's posted. Her posts always make me smile and let me tell you..she is like the Queen of doodling. I doodle and it looks..well..horrible, but when she does it, it's art! I'm so envious. If you want to check out her blog, it's over on the top of my list. Somewhere over there ----> (or click on the above linky)

I called and talked to my boys tonight. Ben was very dramatically telling me how they had a substitute today because Mrs Garland wasn't there. It was Mrs Hubbard, who he likes, but she gave them a lot of work! They did math and Michigan history plus Mrs. Flynn gave him homework too! But, by 7pm he had it all done because he "has to leave the tv off until his homework is done."

Roger, my chatter box, told me in something like super sonic speeds about the video games they had just gotten, all the characters, all the bad guys, all the special moves and who plays which character. He did something like 3 games in 10 minutes. When I asked what else he was doing, I got ummm...as an answer. Apparantly though, the only thing he's doing in school is math. Why do I doubt that's the case? Heh..

Let's see..other than that, nothing new or exciting here. I have about 3 weeks left to classes for this semester and then I can "relax" (aka frantically get ready for Christmas) for a month until the next round begin.

Now, if I'm a good girl, I might actually have thrift store finds or crafty things to post here soon. I'm also working on coming up with a great giveaway so keep your fingers crossed for that! I'm not having much luck lately. If I'm bad, well..flip back and enjoy some past posts? love y'all!

Farewell to a childhood favorite...

So, like a good girl, I went grocery shopping yesterday. Not my favorite thing in the world, but I was out of all the important things in life; bread, milk and cereal. I was "happily" shopping along when I decided to scoot down the cookie aisle to see if they had the low fat/cal/whatever Lorna Doone cookies. For some unknown reason, I've been craving shortbread cookies and since I'd had a crummilicious day, I thought I'd earned them.

Now...imagine my shock and horror as I'm walking past the Archway cookies section and I see a sign that says something like "Archway cookies has gone out of business. Cookies will be available only until we run out of stock." I was dumfounded. I just stood there and stared at the shelf. Then, for old times sake, I picked up a package of windmill cookies. I would have gotten some raspberry ones, but they didn't have any. If by any chance they have more windmill and maybe some diet gingersnaps, I may pick those up in next week's shopping.

Another childhood memory come to an end...I'm sorry to see you go, Archway!

I'm such a girly girl in some ways. I love romantic type things, including this gorgeous bed! I think I'm in love with a bed! It's part of my someday file, the file where I tuck pictures away of my dream items.

Dream Bed

For those who read here..let me challenge you. Sometime in the next few days, post a picture of something from your someday file.
