Date Night (the movie, not the real thing)

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of 20th Century Fox. All opinions are 100% mine.

I would so love to go out on a date night, but certainly not with all of the excitement that happens in this movie. Tina Fey and Steve Carell star in the new Date Night Movie, that is opening in theatres tomorrow, April 9th, 2010. Thinking they're going to go out for a nice dinner, the couple ends up being involved in shootouts, car chases and even a stop at a strip club!

Now, while I might not want to go through all of that in one night, I think this might make a fun movie to go and see on a more sedate form of their date night. I know dinner and a movie is so...I don't know, old fashioned (?) but it's still one of my favorite ways to enjoy a night out. Besides, even if your date is a bit of a flop, you at least have the movie to talk about over dinner, right? So, while I may not get the opportunity to go see this movie, I hope that some of you will and you can fill me in over a nice dinner. Ok, maybe not dinner but perhaps I can post a recipe and we can pretend while you tell me all about how this movie turned out.

Movie Love

10:39 PM 0 Comments

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Alvin and the Chipmunks. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don't know about all of you, but movies are love in this house. The boys and I often sit down before bed to watch a movie and just relax together as a family. Due to financial constraints, we don't get to go out to the theatre very often, but when we do, we make sure we pick something that we all want to see. Back at Christmas, our yay friend Jim gave us a "family" pack to the movies in Lansing. The boys immediately jumped all over seeing Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. I'm glad that they did. We loved the movie! We all voted that it was actually better than the first.

Of course, as a mom who lived way back in the 1900's and as a dj who loves playing slightly offbeat music, I was thrilled when Alvin and the gang came back out to play. I love sharing "old" things made new again to my boys.

Now, the movie is out on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download! We're all twitching to add it to our collection. It may be a while before we can afford any new movies, but when we can, this one is going to be right at the top of our list. Plus, there's the Double DVD Pack that includes "The Squeak Along" Bonus Disc, with more music, mayhem and all-new singalongs!

If you're looking for some good family friendly fun, don't hesitate but buy it now. Plus, check out http://www.foxfamilyflicks.com/ for More Munk Mayhem.

Time for Me Thursday

12:00 AM 1 Comments
Thursday already. Another week whipping by and I hope I'm making enough progress to get that room done by the 28th. I guess we'll just have to wait and see and in between, I'll keep plugging away at it.

Peter will be bringing the boys tonight so it's really easy to decide what my time for me is going to be. I'm going to cook up some homemade lasagna so that it should be ready not long after they get here. Then, I'm going to cuddle up with my boys and watch a movie of their choosing. It's one of my favorite things to do in the whole universe. I can't wait until they get here!

As for all of you, I'm going to make it quick and easy. Your challenge for today is to go back upstairs to your bedroom and clean off the other nightstand. Now, if you only have one in your room, then go into your guest room or your kids' room and do the stand in there. If you don't have a second one anywhere in your house, well then I guess you're challenge free for today!

Once that's done, I want you to take at least 15 minutes and just relax. Then, write all about it and come back here and let us all know that you did it!

Time for Me Thursday

12:23 AM 1 Comments
Sheesh! Sometimes I swear technology plots and plans to work against me. I was in the middle of working on something and the laptop just locked up! Then, it took over 20 minutes for the poor thing to get itself back up and running. Hopefully it's feeling better now.

So, how is everyone doing on their cleaning and organizing? Is it coming along loverly? Mine is coming along pretty well. I'm hoping that by the end of Friday I'll be able to see floor in the middle of the room. Wouldn't that be nice? I think I only have 2 or 3 more boxes in there that haven't been gone through at all. Not bad, I say. I just hope having to take the van into the shop on Friday doesn't interfere too much. I'll have to post more about that later.

For now, let me tell you what I'm doing for me today. Like I mentioned yesterday, one of the things that I've found tons of are photos. Today, I'm going to relax for a little while and flip through my scrapbooks. I can't wait until I have a useable crafting space again!

Now, let me tell you what your challenge is. Since today is all about spoiling and pampering and doing something for you, I want you to go into your bathroom and...you were thinking I was going to say take a bubble bath, weren't you? Well, I hope you do that to but since this is an organizational challenge, I want you to go through all of your lotions, body washes and things that you use to pamper yourself with. Smell them, try them and if you don't love it, send it on to someone who does. Keep only the ones that you love and then find a pretty basket or something to store them all in.

That's it for me for now! I'm off to let this poor laptop take a little nap before I make him wake up and get back to work!

Tackle It Tuesday

3:41 PM 0 Comments
And here we are, Tuesday..ok, it's really Wednesday, but we're going to pretend that it's still Tuesday, ok? Good..now, as I was saying..here we are, Tuesday and as always, there are tons of things that need to be tackled. Are any of you taking down your decorations and storing them yet? That would be a good tackle, but one that I'm putting off until next week. My decorations are getting a major organizational overhaul and I'm waiting until the boys are back at their dad's to handle it. I got a great deal on the Christmas totes at Meijer's with some Christmas money. I got 2 of them for $8 and I'm going to sort all my Christmas things (or what I can fit into the 2 this year and get another one next year if needed) into Tree Decorations/Other Decorations. Plus, since they're red/green, they'll be easily identifiable next year when I'm looking for the right box. Sheesh, with any luck, by this time next year, there will be no boxes. I don't like storing things in boxes because well, rodents like cardboard (I'm thinking garage storage, not house storage.) and plus, if anything leaks (like a certain barn roof), cardboard gets wet and things get ruined.

Ok, so what did I tackle yesterday? Well, I tackled getting us out of my Grandmother's house for one thing. I love visiting, but I swear it's like a black hole when you're trying to escape. I need warp drive engines or something. (oh my god, that was the geekiest thing to say..someone shoot me now...*grins*) Then, I tackled putting a quart of oil into my van because my father said it was a quart low and father's know best on these things. Then, I tried to pick up a bookcase, but the person wasn't home. Then, I went to the bank and tackled getting some paperwork I needed.

Then, best of all, the boys and I tackled using up a gift card that we had gotten for Christmas. I think I mentioned here that Jim had given us a Celebration Cinemas gift pack as part of our Christmas gift. Well, we loved using it yesterday! We used $15 of the gift card to get our tickets to go see Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakal and then another $4.50 of it to get us 2 large sodas to share. We got 2 because the gift pack included a buy one/get one coupon on the sodas. Then, we used the popcorn bucket and filled it up once for during the movie and then once for at home, except the boys ate it all on the way home! The movie was great, better than the first one, in all of our opinions. We still have most of the coupon pack and 50c left on our gift card. I don't know when I'll have the money for us to all go again, but it was a wonderful treat and I'm so thankful for friends who gave us something that we could all love and do as a family.

After the movie, it was off to Meijers for a quick grocery run and then finally back to the house, where I tackled getting us all inside and the trash out to the curb. Roger tackled giving the kitties food and water and then we all relaxed. Not a bad day of small tackles, if you ask me!
