(almost) Wordless Wednesday

Woo! Look at me, two posts on two days in a row again! Ok, so maybe that only impresses me but once my routines get broken, it can take me a while to bounce back and I'm proud of me for jumping right back in.

So, have any of you gone over to Sunday Shutterbugs and checked out their pictures for this week? I was just over there and they're pretty cool, I have to say. Their theme for this week is Flags but since I wasn't home last Wednesday to post for that one, I wanted to do both this week. Now, I'm going to confess right up front that I didn't take either of these pictures in the past two weeks. I know that's kinda breaking the rules, but I'm sure the girls won't mind. The Fall picture (which was last week's challenge) is actually from maybe umm..2 weeks ago? Not that long ago, really..The Flags picture, I will admit to taking back in August, I think it was. I'd love to go take a flag picture today, but I'm still on don't go out and about duty until we're sure I'm not contagious.

(almost) Wordless Wednesday

Last weekend, Roger was here and we had a wonderful time together. Like any mom, I did manage to get a few pictures taken of the things we did and I wanted to share them with you. Now, over on Sunday Shutterbugs, the theme for this week was squares. As you can see, I guess I was hoping that it would be circles. For me, this time of year is all about circles. There are apples and pumpkins and ok, well that's all that's coming to mind but I'm sure there are other things too. *grins*

So, here are our weekend activities. I just love that he loves doing this kind of thing with me.

Milk Jug Birdfeeder
This is the bird feeder that we made together. It's now hanging outside on our trellice thing a ma bob (yes that's the technical term.) filled with homemade bird food.

Halloween Pumpkins
And here are our pumpkins. I did the one on the bottom and Roger did the one on the top. We call his Mr Scary Pumpkin Man. His shirt says I love Candy and I think he's saying something like Give me candy. Mine is just carrying a candy basket. I can't wait until Ben and I do his this coming weekend.

(not so) Wordless Wednesday

Can you believe it? Summer is winding down..well, so the calendar says. To me, once it hits September 1st, summer is done. Then, if I let it linger, it is officially done once school starts. The boys started 3rd and 4th grade today. Roger got the teacher he wanted and I'm hoping that Ben likes his teacher. I don't think he really had a preference so I can't wait until Friday when I can hear all about their first few days and how they liked it. Roger wasn't sure he wanted to go back so that will be fun to listen to.

What may be even harder to believe is that the boys and I took this picture way back on August 19th. That's right. We were walking home from downtown and spotted this laying on the sidewalk. Outside, now, our walnut tree is shedding leaves with every breeze that flows through. Autumn is basically here and I couldn't be happier. It's my favorite time of year. Is anyone else in the mood for some pumpkin donuts and cider? I so need to stop by Cotant's Farm Market soon. They have the most delicious donuts and cider that are made on site not to mention Honeycrisp apples that will be out in another month or so. Yum!

Fall already?

Autumn is here! - Not so Wordless Wednesday

Autumn is seriously my favorite time of the year! I love the crispness to the air, the fact that you can buy honeycrisp apples and the changing of the leaves! It makes me want to start pulling out all those yummy cooler weather recipes. One of them that I will be doing sometime soon is baked squash! I wish I'd remembered to take my regular camera with me the other day, but since I didn't, I had to snap this pic with my phone. Don't they look sooo pretty and autumny? Too pretty to eat, but they'd look so nice as decorations.
