A number of years ago, before I started writing children's/all ages books, I used to write what we lovingly called erotica. Now, I joke and just call it smut. I really enjoyed writing it and had a small group of followers who encouraged me to turn those stories into a book.

Hi all! I'm back with another book review. This time, it's for Curiosities of the Civil War by Webb Garrison. In this book, Mr. Garrison covers a variety of topics pertaining to the Civil War.

Now, I have to say that this is not a history book in the way that most people think of history books. It's more of what I would call an anecdote book. The book is divided into 9 different sections. Each section focuses on a different topic and each section is then divided into 2-4 paragraphs focusing on an individual person, event or subject.  Since it's laid out this way, you can choose to read for 5 minutes or for 5 hours.

I found the topics interesting and it's an easy read. You would have to actually have an interest in history though to find this book interesting. It's not a general reader. All in all, it's a pretty good book and for history buffs, it's one you might want to add to your shelf.

Now here I went and said I wasn't going to post them all that often when I suddenly realized that I had never posted my review for this fun book!

As some of you know, I love little bits of trivia, so this book was right up my ally. The author filled the book with the history/explanations of 600 words and phrases used in everyday life. If you're like me, you have no idea where some of these came from!

This is one of those great books that you can pick up, read about something and then put it down and come back for more later! I love those kinds of books when life gets super busy. I kept this in the car for ages. Then, on those days, when I got to the boys' school early, I could keep myself entertained while learning about where things came from!

If you're a "too busy to read" type of person or if you're just a word geek, this book is certainly one that you'll want to pick up.
