This heartfelt tale of love and devotion is based on debut author Rebecca DeMarino’s own ancestors, who came to Long Island in the mid-1600s to establish a life–and a legacy–in the New World.
============================
Wow, you would never believe that this was the author's debut novel. I started reading and some unknown hours later, I put the book back down. I couldn't seem to stop reading and even though there were tears in my eyes at the end, it was well worth one very late night. Historical fiction has found a new author and one that I hope doesn't stop with just this book. By the time I finished reading, I felt as if I had been there, that I was a part of this family through their joys and their sorrows. I came to care about each of the characters and it's a rare thing for a book to pull me in that deeply these days.
