Save the Planet Saturday - Electricity Bills

12:00 AM 3 Comments
I want to send a big thank you out to those of you who stopped by last week and left comments. It makes me feel good to know that my posts are out there and helping people.

This week, I'm going in a totally different direction. This post won't help you clean your house, but it will help you lower your electricity bill. Did you know that your video game consoles are energy vampires? And not the really sexy, sweet Twilight vampires, either. These are the evil, suck your power and raise your electricity bill kind.

Did you know that your Wii, PS2, PS3 or Xbox can use as much energy as two refrigerators? Holy cow! Now I know I'm going to make sure I get after the boys to remember to turn the PS2 off when they're done with it. Just by turning off your console after you rescue the princess (bonus points if you catch that reference), you could shave about $100 off your electricity bill in the course of a year. If you're like me, every penny counts.

So go ahead, rescue the princess, rock out with your guitar and race your dirt bike, but remember to turn off your system when you're done!

Bad Day

I know that I promised everyone a picture filled wonderful post for today, but I'm afraid it's just not coming and I apologize. As most of you know, money is ridiculously tight here and I've been struggling to pay off the credit card debt that I left my marriage with. Well, as it turns out I didn't do good enough. I'm making payments on three of them, but one of my accounts got sold multiple times and by the time I finished tracking it down, it had been sold to a company that buys accounts just so it can sue for the money. This sounds so wrong and unethical, etc to me but it was made clear to me that this is what they do and this is what they're going to do to me. Since there is no way I can come up with $3000 before Friday..yes, this Friday..they're going to have me served on either Friday or Monday. So needless to say, I'm not much in a happy blogging mood today. I have a call into the Volunteer Lawyer Unit here but their machine said it could take up to a month for them to call me back. Keep your fingers crossed that this isn't the case.

Right now, I am a total wreck and so is this apartment. I have company coming tomorrow, but he's aware of what's happening and just keeps telling me that I'm more important than the apartment and we'll just dodge and weave whatever we need to. He's determined to stick to our plans and that we'll have a great weekend. I'm gonna try to put on a happy face and let the worry sneak back next week, but this is the worst time for this to happen...right before finals week.

Money Needed?

11:56 PM 4 Comments
As some people know, during the school year, I'm a full time Psychology student. During the summer, I'm a full time SAHM to my 2 fabulous boys. What this all means is zero income. We live off of child support and alimony (which trust me, isn't much) and the bit of financial aid I may have left. My wonderful, fabulous (/end sarcasm) ex-husband left me with a ton of credit card bills and I'm struggling to make it. What's the point of this sob story you might ask... Well, it's that I found this new mommy blog today (All Things Frugal) and she talks about her goal of paying off a credit card and how she's finding extra money to do it. I would love, love, love to have at least one less bill, so I'm trying it her way. Now, here's where all of you come in. I'm going to ask you all to do me big favors and sign up for these sites too. What the heck, you can earn some money to pay off something or to save up for something yummy..(Do I hear a new Pazzles in any of your minds?) So, please check them out. I get referral monies for both of these; $10 for each of you who sign up for Revolution Money Exchange and 20% of what each of you may earn for CashCrate. So follow the linkies, ladies...(& gents, if you're reading.)
